Flipnote Hatena Weekly News: September 18, 2009

Hello from Kyoto, Japan where the Flipnote Hatena team works day and night to help you share your Flipnotes with the world.

We worked hard this week to launch the new Flipnote Central section of our website for the European and Japanese regions, and hope to bring this fun, new content to users in the Americas soon. Thank you all for your patience as we get things ready, and be sure to check here for the latest updates.

This week we're going to review some of the best entries from last week's topic, "Respecting your elders", and introduce some of our favorite Flipnotes from around the globe.

Some of our favorite Flipnotes from last week's topic: "Respecting your elders"

Last week's topic was based on the Japanese holiday on September 21 known as "Respect-for-the-Aged Day". We're happy to introduce some of the best Flipnotes about this topic posted by Flipnote creators from all around the world in this week's blog entty.

You can see all of the entries posted about last week's topic by entering the command via "Command Search" from Flipnote Hatena on your Nintendo DSi or on the website. If you want to see the submissions from all regions, you can only do this on the website -- make sure to set your content preference setting to "Worldwide (All)" on the website in order to view Flipnotes from all regions.

"Respecting your elders" Flipnotes from Europe and Oceania

★ This is an excellent Flipnote titled "For My Grandfather" by Hinto (id:Hinto).

"Respecting your elders" Flipnotes from the Americas

★ "Youth shall never beat old age" is illustrated in this Flipnote by x_x (id:EMOtion)

★ Sylvester (id:Ashuric) tells the story of a young relative taking care of his elders in the hospital in this heartful Flipnote.

"Respecting your elders" Flipnotes from Japan

★ Chiaki created a loving message to her grandparents in this Flipnote. The Japanese text in the Flipnote translates as "Wishing you happiness forever."

★ Matsuda Takuya made this beautifully animated Flipnote about a child looking up to the skies and seeing their elders. Well done!


Some of our favorites this week from Europe and Oceania

★ We liked "Trombein´s Morph" by by Apollo Zap (id:alexander-zimmer) with weird, flowing animation and crazy sounds.

★ We're also looking forward for what's to come in the first episode of a new Flipnote series by -P@$¿3- (id:x-files) titled "Episode one alien picked up to go to earth"

★ Here's a nice Flinpnote by .:Ben:.(id:MrAppLe) with excellent animation and sound. We especially liked the unexpected ending.


★ This is a very short Flipnote, but we enjoyed the pastel style drawing by Cheval (id:rectogab) of this strange animal.


Some of our favorites Flipnotes this week from the Americas

★ The Flipnote frog comes to life as a masked superhero who is a Flipnote Studio user in this cool Flipnote by jaye (id:Jaye). Be sure to check out this user's other Flipnotes too!

★ We also liked this undersea adventure by Corey (id:coreym) who has posted an excellent collection of Flipnotes.

★ Dr. Crazy (id:Leiden) made this great combination of images taken the Nintendo DSi Camera application and hand drawn animation in this Flipnote that we really enjoyed.

★ Lük (id:sl33pyh3ad) brings a sausage to life in "Kielbasa Gone WILD". We're looking forward to seeing more from this creator.

★ Check out this Jurassic dinosaur baby in this excellent Flipnote by Talon (id:TALON411). Great work!


★ Skilled Flipnote creator, retro_j (id:retro_j), shows off some excellent skills in "AHHHHHH-" which caught the attention of a lot of the members of the Flipnote Hatena team.

Here are some notable Flipnotes from users in Japan

★ Here's an excellently illustrated robot Flipnote by M15 (id:M1580688) that also has very well-done sound. Nice work!


★ Pibi (id:Tarahen) takes us on a journey deep into the sea with red squid and other sea creatures.

This week's topic: "Strange and funny faces"
