Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Yui (id:yui_taisou_love8) from Japan.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

Hello everybody. I've only been using Flipnote Hatena for about one and half years, so I feel that I am still inexperienced. This year I am busy preparing for exams to enter university.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

Recently I like skateboarding. On weekends I spend most of my time studying, and play video games when I take a break.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★ "All Of This Work for Pudding" - This was the first Flipnote I made that was featured in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News, and I think it is one of my best works. I have no idea how I came up with this crazy idea!

★ "If You Use That…" - I like the movement of the character eating meat. This was the first time I used this original character in my Flipnotes.

★ "Spin, Spin, Spin, Spinning" - This was the first loop animation I made, about a conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I like the illusion that is created when the belt goes both right and left. I hope viewers outside of Japan can enjoy this too, because it is about sushi.

★ "Leisurely Robot" - This was challenging to make because I don't usually create Flipnotes with straight lines. I like the way this came out, and recommend you check it out. I made another animation with straight lines, but this one is my favorite.

★ "Blowwww" - I like the idea of this one -- I hope it makes you laugh!

★ "One, Two, 1, 2" - The animation in this Flipnote is smoother than in my earlier work. I tried to keep this simple by not adding any fill colors. I like the funny ending.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I am learning new things all the time, and don't feel particularly skilled at any specific technique. However, one thing I am good at is making gradations. I also am good at creating weird creatures.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order make your Flipnotes better?

I would like to learn to draw people better. I have trouble drawing things like faces, hands or other parts of the human body. I also have a hard time animating with the faster speeds in Flipnote Studio.

Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Flipnote Hatena and tell us why you like them or their Flipnotes.

I really respect the work by the following animators:

Osushi (id:okappazusi)

Asurapan (id:kaz872a)

Reig (id:reig)

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

I recommend you have fun making animations that you like, and don't just ask people to add stars and comments. I used to want to become a famous creator, but now I just draw and animate whatever I want and have so much fun on Flipnote Hatena. Let's enjoy Flipnotes together!
