Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Cosmo★ (id:upa-rupa) from Japan.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am 12 years old and a first year middle school student. I like animals such as iguanas and axolotl (Mexican salamanders). I have a pet iguana too.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

I like computers, online games and drawing. I usually draw characters and people from my imagination, or make sketches of real things. These hobbies limit my time to create Flipnotes.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★ This was featured in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News, and is my most viewed Flipnote. I made the sounds myself.

★ One day I was daydreaming at school, and came up with this idea of a Mexican salamander eating a small fish. My mind often wanders when I am in class.

★ I made a new version of the previous animation with the Mexican salamander fishing.

★ This is the first animation I made of a Mexican salamander. I posted this for Weekly Topic: Candy, and people seemed to enjoy it.

★ This is my second Mexican salamander animation. In this one the salamander is swimming.

★ This animation of a snake took a long time. I was inspired to make this after I saw a picture of an egg-eating snake, which can eat eggs bigger than their own mouths. I enjoy watching animals hunt and eat.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I think I am good at drawing, which I have been doing almost everyday since I was a child. I am better at drawing animals than people, but recently I have been trying to get better at drawing people too. I still have a lot to learn, but will word hard to improve.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order make your Flipnotes better?

I am still not good at animating, because I am used to making drawings that do not move. I can imagine how I want things to move, but have difficulty to actually draw that way. For this reason I create most of my animations at speed 5. The creatures in my animations sometime appear to move quickly, but I don't draw many frames to create that illusion.

Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Flipnote Hatena, and tell us why you like them or their Flipnotes.

Youhei (id:aoyamayouhei) - You can never guess the content of this creator's Flipnotes by just looking at their preview icon.

Pekira (id:pekira9074) - The characters are cute, and the animations are so excellent.
