Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.
We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.
Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!
Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Luv Monkey (id:kalyfr) from the Americas region.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I am a grandmother who lives in Canada. I have a grown son who has a daughter that I call JAM on Hatena. I also have new puppy who is so much fun to watch and play with!
What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?
Every Saturday morning I eagerly wait for the morning newspaper because I love reading the comics. I also enjoy reading, gardening, painting, quilting, sewing, and almost any other craft.
Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.
★ Cats are trouble, but this fish can't be caught!
★ There's something in my tea! What might it be?
★ Mosquitoes are plentiful where I live. Swatting the mosquitoes is a favorite pastime of ours in the summer.
★ There is a mouse in the house -- it's stealing my cheese!
★ I thought it would be funny for a monkey to be the species that aliens from space made contact with.
★ I like how a shape changes into a monkey then to a frog and other things in this one. It was a great exercise.
★ This Flipnote titled "My Backyard Journey" is one of my favorites flips.
★ When I was young I enjoyed playing with these toys with parachutes attached.
What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?
I think I am good at telling short stories. My animations are simple and suitable for children to watch, and not too complicated.
What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order make your Flipnotes better?
I wish I was better at drawing cartoon characters. Even though I love them I find them hard to draw. My movements aren't as smooth as I would like them to be, and I wish I wasn't so afraid to speak in my flips or to make sounds.
Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Flipnote Hatena, and tell us why you like them or their Flipnotes.
There are so many creators from the Americas region that I like, but here are three that I adore:
★ PickyEater (id:AnotherPickyEater) has so much talent, and I wish her success! I adore the softness of her Flipnotes.
★ SnowyOwl (id:BurrowingOwl208) has great story telling talents, and a fantastic sense of humor.
★ mom (id:Don-de-la-Vierge) is able to draw and post Flipnotes faster then anyone I know, and is an accomplished cartoonist!
I really love the Europe and Oceania community because they often join in each others' Flipnote chains in a very supporting way. Here are two artists that I absolutely adore from this region:
★ Simon (id:simon-a) and his trusty sidekick Tara. The trouble they get into...
Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?
I was so happy to discover Hatena. I purchased a Nintendo DSi to play games on while I was recuperating from surgeries, and didn't know what Flipnotes were. After I discovered Flipnote Hatena, I began a journey making and posting Flipnotes. It turned out to be an excellent way to meet and talk with other artists! I will miss Hatena very much. It was and is a great community.
