Hello from all of us on the Flipnote Hatena team. This is Aaron at Hatena's offices in Kyoto, Japan with another edition of our weekly news blog.
This week we've released some new Creator's Room themes in the Color Star Exchange that you can use by exchanging only 5 color stars.
If you exchange color stars for a theme in the Color Star Exchange by July 11 (Sunday) you'll also be able to try your luck to get an extra limited edition theme or some other prizes. Please access the URL below for more information about the Rainbow Summer Campaign:

If you happen to be in Paris, France this week visiting the Japan Expo please keep a look out for the members of the French Flipnote Hatena user group, the Hatena Ultimate French Team (HUFT) who will be having a get together at the Japan Expo on July 4 (Sunday). Next week we plan to publish some photos of the HUFT meeting at the Japan Expo here in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News.

This week's new themes
The Flipnote team has created five new Creator's Room themes that are available in the Color Star Exchange this week. Below are some screenshots and details about the new themes.
- This theme is inspired by pirates, and features a skull and crossbones and precious gems. (10 color stars)
- This theme features an image of the Flipnote frog printed on denim with either blue, yellow, or red stars. (Each variation is 5 color stars)

Hatena's favorite "Electronics" Flipnotes from the Europe & Oceania region
★ We liked this simple Flipnote by Shynzo (id:Shynzo) that features a hand pushing a light switch that makes a "beep" sound. This is best viewed in loop mode.
★ The character in this Flipnote by Gráinne!! (id:GrainneAnn) says, "I fixed the hairdryer, look, it works perfectly!" You'll have to watch the Flipnote to see exactly how well he fixed it.
★ This Flipnote by Frainy™ (id:Frainy) features a young woman playing with a Nintendo DSi. I wonder if she's creating a Flipnote?
★ Nick (id:nick10131) reminds us that you shouldn't play with electricity unless you are a trained professional. Please don't try this at home!
★ This Flipnote by Exodyn (id:COHERENCE) features illustrations and descriptions of electronic parts such as the reisistor, capacitor, transistor, diode and the LED. Good job!
★ Alvaro (id:Veldelal) created this Flipnote about a character who has nothing but bad luck with all of the electronics in his life. We hope you have better luck with yours!
Hatena's favorite "Electronics" Flipnotes from the Americas region
★ The character in this Flipnote by Evan (id:EvSpar) has a weird fascination with wanting to touch an electric fence. This is another activity that you shouldn't try at home!
★ AVTR (id:AVTR) created this funny Flipnote about a character wearing virtual reality goggles (maybe it's a Nintendo Virtual Boy console?). We liked the mix of animation created by hand and with the Nintendo DSi Camera.
★ Hagane no (id:animefan123) created this amazing Flipnote about a character who has an adventure inside of a Nintendo 3DS console. Great work!
★ We liked this funny Flipnote by Scott (id:Xobter_95) about a character who makes all sorts of interesting electronic stuff from a pile of parts.
★ A bird has an unexpected encounter with a toaster in this funny Flipnote by Iyou (id:Hitodama102).
★ D-man (id:OrriginalD-man) created this strange and wonderful Flipnote of a character talking on an electronic display that says, "Don't believe everything you think."
Hatena's favorite "Electronics" Flipnotes from Japan
★ Desu Masu (id:desumasu41) created this funny Flipnote about a character making funny noises with a an electric fan. The Flipnote was created by combing hand drawn animation and images taken with the Nintendo DSi Camera.
★ Mukume (id:mussiii) created this simple Flipnote that has a character blow drying their hair, complete with sound effects.
★ A character has a strange encounter with a pair of electric fans in this funny Flipnote by ~BURAI~ (id:ponZU).
★ Follow the path of electricity as if flows from the outlet in the wall through the fan in this nicely animated Flipnote by Okima (id:pu-tmkf).
★ We liked this Flipnote by things (id:makotosine) about an electronic experiment using wind power.
★ This Flipnote by 8:51:22 pm (id:go-rhythm) illustrates how direct current powers a Nintendo DSi.
This week's topic: "Ice" (7/2/2010 - 7/9/2010)
July is the hottest time of the year in many parts of the world, and people are trying their best to keep cool. This week we'd like you to create Flipnotes about the topic of ice. Create Flipnotes about ice cream, ice pops (ice lollies), glaciers, icicles, shaved ice, ice skating, iced tea -- anything that you can create related to the topic of ice. We're looking forward to seeing your Flipnotes, and will feature some of the best ones next week here in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News. Post the Flipnotes you create to channel 7 from Flipnote Hatena on your Nintendo DSi.
Also, please do not use copyrighted music in your Flipnotes if you want them to be featured here. Check out some of the sites below for Creative Commons licensable and other royalty free music:
