System update: Changes to the inappropriate content reporting system

Today we made some changes to the inappropriate content reporting function on Flipnote Hatena, which is used for reporting Flipnotes, comments and channels that violate the Hatena Terms of Use.

When reporting inappropriate content we now require that users write a description of how the content they are reporting violates Hatena's rules. Descriptions of why the content is being reported can be typed when reporting content from the Flipnote Hatena website, or be hand written when reporting content from Flipnote Hatena for Nintendo DSi.

We do appreciate the members of the Flipnote Hatena user community who help by reporting inappropriate content, however, we currently receive many inappropriate content reports where the reason for the content being reported is not clear. The addition of a required written description will allow Hatena's moderators to better understand the reason why the content is being reported.

In addition, we have also added several checkboxes where users reporting content must confirm that they have checked the content they are reporting does violate the Hatena Terms of Use. We have also removed the display of the number of inappropriate content reports for individual Flipnotes, and made several interface changes to the inappropriate content reporting page.

Thank you for helping to keep Flipnote Hatena a safe place for everyone.
