Please tell us about yourself.
Hello, my name is Lachlan, a.k.a. TurnipHead. I am 12 years old and I'm a high school student in Australia. I got my Nintendo DSi for my 12th birthday and have loved creating Flipnotes ever since!
What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?
My hobbies include drawing, animating (with clay), animating (with my Nintendo DSi) and singing in my school choir. Some people have also said I have a considerable talent for art.
Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.
★ "Abstract" - This was an experimental Flipnote. I didn't really make it to post on Hatena. When I finished it, I liked it, so I decided to post it.
★ "Down" - I like this Flipnote because I'm a fan of "Alice in Wonderland". I always had dreams about falling to wonderland, so this was like my dream coming true!
★ "Creation" - I like this one especially because it is the first time the two characters interactedin my Flipnotes. I also like how I experimented using the bottom of the screen.
★ "2012" - I liked this flipnote because it's the first time I've gotten the voices in sync. Also because of the humor, and reassuring everyone that the world will continue with toast.
★ "Cloud Eater" - This is another favorite Flipnote of mine. I made it when I felt really angry and got sick of the rain. I wanted it to be sunny for once and, hey, it worked!
★ "Caffeeeeeeeeeine" - I like this because I think the coffee slopping around in the cup expresses tension well. I also like the way the cup bounces in the sink.
★ "Untitled" - This Flipnote has some simple transformations and funny sounds.
What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes? And what are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?
I am good at ink and paint effects when they're flowing, dripping or when they're spreading. I want to try making anime Flipnotes, and animate more of the characters I created.
