Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is chortlinMe (id:ChotlingArmadillo) from the Americas region.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

Hello everyone, I go by the name chortlinMe and I am honored to be selected as Hatena Featured Artist. I am an evolving artist from the U.S. who enjoys making Flipnotes as well as other forms of art.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

Apart from creating Flipnotes I spend my time drawing, reading (I love mythology!), listening to music... and – oh yeah – playing video games.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes and tell us why you like them.

★ "Aim for the Sky" - This is my first Flipnote that I submitted for the weekly topic. This took me five hours to complete and the weekly topic was an ideal way to let my creativity flow.

★ "The GunSlinger" - This flip note took me three hours to complete and allowed me to experiment with fast motion and different views and perspectives.

★ "Sword of Legends" - I can not recall how long this flip note took to complete but it was greatly inspired by the famous legend of Camelot and King Arthur. The use of silhouettes allowed the Flipnote to seem much more fantasy like.

★ "Me and My Shadow" - I created this Flipnote for the weekly topic “Light and Shadow.” I wanted to make the character seem real so I experimented with mixing both expression and movement at the same time to create a more human appearance.

★ "Quickdraw" - This Flipnote evolved from practicing with differing techniques. The sudden darkness helped improve the appearance of speed in the flip note.

★ "An Encounter" - This is the first flipnote that I created and posted for everyone to view. It presents two Samurai Warriors as they are preparing to face off against each other.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I am continuously working to improve my skills and strive to include as much as detail as possible in all of my creations. I believe in creating unique detailed characters supported through smooth animation, interesting backgrounds, and unique story lines.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order make your Flipnotes better?

I am interested in learning any technique or skill that will improve my art. I would really love to increase my skills with fast-paced animation and smoother movement.

Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Flipnote Hatena

I have many favorite creators and friends on Hatena who provide support and inspiration. Listing everyone would take up too much space.

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

I would like to say that this community provides great support and I am thankful for all the comments and suggestions I have received. Always try your best at what you are doing and never give up. Even if your artwork or animations are not that good do not be ashamed, the experts were once beginners. Through mistakes you learn and through learning you gain more experience. Make each Flipnote a great learning experience. Treat each Flipnote as an opportunity to increase your skills and remember to use the knowledge of the community.
