Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.
We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.
Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!
Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Atsushi (id:s-28) from Japan.
Please tell us about yourself.
Hello everyone! My name is Atsushi, I am from the Kansai region of western Japan, and I speak the local dialect here known as "Kansai-ben".
What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?
Although I hardly go to the cinema lately I love to watch movies. I also enjoy riding my bicycle around Lake Biwa. (Editor's note: Lake Biwa is the largest lake in Japan and is not too far from the Hatena office in Kyoto).
Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them
★ "Weekly Topic: Sun" - I made this Flipnote for the Weekly topic and I think I was able to draw the girl in a cute way.
★ "Blizzard" - I was attempting to draw the wind when I made this Flipnote. I did not plan to make the woman have a wig, but it ended up that way...
★ "Rotating Room (Collaboration)" - I made this one with Churipap (id:churi-pap), he made the background, and I drew the character. I think it all worked out very well.
★ "Twirl, Blow, and Zing!" - This has a "twirly" touch.
★ "Slide" - This Flipnote is somewhat creepy, maybe you can imagine what happens to the man after he falls.
★ "Flying" - This Flipnote took me a lot of effort to make, especially making the dress flutter in the wind was difficult. I tried to have the character exit into the background at the end.
What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes? What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?
I do not know whether I am really good at it but I like to draw cute swirly moving girls. I am not really talented at drawing action Flipnotes, but I want to give it a try some day.
Please introduce some of your favorite artists!
There are so many talented artists that I like, but these artists are especially my favorites. I admire their drawings, stories and ideas.
Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?
Making a Flipnote with movement is very difficult, you need to draw many pictures and try to create an image of something in your mind.
If you can complete this task and see the thing you had in your mind with your own eyes it is exciting.
I would like to thank all who have watched my Flipnotes, and who gave me stars and comments. I really appreciate it!
