Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Asaseri (id:asa-seri) from the Japan region.

Please tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone, my name is Asaseri. This is my first time to be interviewed, so I am very excited to be featured.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

I like watching dramas on television. I enjoy the stories, but I also learn how to draw facial expressions and body movements. It helps me a lot when I create Flipnotes.

I have been a huge fan of video games since I was little.

I also love animals -- even creepy animals like crows and hyenas. If you find out more about them you will see that they are actually loving beings with deep feelings.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★ "Spinning" - This is the first Flipnote I made. It was just practice, so I didn't really feel like I struggled or anything, but I remember how excited I was when I first played it and saw the cute creature spinning!

★ "They can never get enough" - I made this Flipnote for the Weekly Topic "Cats & Dogs". I wanted to draw everything by hand, but I did not have enough time so in the end I copied some pages. I think the dog's expression is realistic and cute.

★ "Love for You!" - After the devastating disaster of March 11, 2011 in northeast Japan I was feeling sad. I also felt the love from all over the world, and understood that love can be passed along no matter how great the distance. With these thoughts in my head I made this Flipnote. I usually think what I will draw after I get the stylus in my hand, but this time, I already had the image in my head and I had to make it. I have many feelings attached to this Flipnote.

★ "Butterfly" - This is a Flipnote I really enjoyed drawing. I struggled with drawing the body movements, but after making this Flipnote I became more motivated to draw.

★ "Count the Sheep" - If you wait patiently, you will see a black sheep and a goat. I wonder how many people have actually noticed them. All the copy and pasting that I had to do for this Flipnote was really tiresome.

Can you give us any advice about making good Flipnotes?

I think "good" Flipnotes are the ones that you enjoy making. If you do not enjoy creating it, you will give up at some point, right? Also, to improve your skills, you must have the desire to make better Flipnotes, and actually try to make something that you can be proud of.

What kind of Flipnotes would you like to make in the future?

I am not very good at creating long stories, so I have been practicing making better ones. It is hard and sometimes I want to give up and make simple stories, but I always remember "practice makes perfect".

Please introduce some of your favorite Flipnote artists

I admire the Flipnotes by these creators because they are original and inspiring. There are many great artists on Hatena, and I respect every one of them.
