We had a great time watching all of the "Amusement Park" Flipnotes from last week, and would like to express our thanks to everyone who posted!
This week we have a fun new topic where you can add some music or sounds to your Flipnotes. Before you get started making your Flipnotes, please make sure you understand about what kind of music or sounds you can use in your Flipnotes for the weekly topic.
Please remember that we cannot feature animations that use copyrighted music without permission in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News.
As a general rule, you should not use the following in your Flipnotes:
- Music from TV, movies or videogames.
- Music that is sold in stores or online.
- Pictures from TV shows, movies, books or magazines.
This is just a brief list and is by no means everything in the world that is copyrighted. Please look into the copyright of anything you didn't create yourself before you use it in your Flipnotes. If you are a kid and don't understand copyrights, please ask your parent/guardian or a teacher to help you.
We recommend that you use royalty-free music or music that you have permission to use in your Flipnotes. You can find many sites on the Internet that have audio/music that you can use for free that is not copyrighted. Check out some of the sites below for Creative Commons licensable and other types of royalty free music:

Use your skills and imagination to create completely original Flipnotes without using other peoples copyrighted works without permission. If you create everything in your Flipnotes yourself, you will never have to worry about copyrights.

Flipnote Hatena 3rd Anniversary Event
To celebrate the third anniversary of the launch of Flipnote Hatena in the Americas and Europe and Oceania regions, we are having a special event from August 10, 2012 (Friday) until September 10, 2012 (Monday).
To take part, create an original Flipnote to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Flipnote Hatena and post it to the official 3rd anniversary channel. Create stories about the good times and experiences that you have had on Flipnote Hatena, or show off some of the animation skills that you have learned.
We will feature some of the best submissions in a special section of Flipnote Hatena in September.
- Submission rules:
- 1) You can post only 1 Flipnote per Hatena account.
- 2) Flipnotes that are unrelated to the "Flipnote Hatena 3rd Anniversary" topic will not be accepted.
- 3) Flipnotes with unauthorized use of copyrighted music, images or characters will not be accepted.
- 4) Spin-offs that are not significantly modified from the original Flipnote will not be accepted.
- 5) Flipnotes can only be posted by users from the Americas and Europe and Oceania regions.
- 6) Flipnotes must be posted by 9:00 PM US Pacific Time (PDT/UTC -7 hours) on Monday, September 10, 2012.

This week we would like you to create Flipnotes about guitars. Make animations featuring acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers, guitar solos, frets, picks, pickups, strings or anything guitar-related. Animate your own original band or famous guitarist! Remember that you should not use any copyrighted audio in your Flipnotes, so try to make sounds with your mouth, a real guitar or other household items. See where your creativity takes you!
