Flipnote Hatena Weekly News: September 28, 2009

Sorry for the delay posting this week's Flipnote Hatena Weekly News, but there was a long holiday here in Japan called Silver Week and most of the Hatena staff has been on vacation for the past few days.

After spending some time in the real world away from our computers, the Flipnote Hatena team is feeling refreshed and hoping to use our newly regained energy to make Flipnote Hatena even better for everyone.

So without further delay, here is this week's Flipnote Hatena News blog.

This week's topic: "Your Original Team of Heroes"

Create your own team of heroes. Think of a small group of men, women, boys or girls, young or old working together to accomplish a common goal.

In history there have been all sorts of famous teams of heroes working together for both good and evil. Try to create your own original team of heroes in a Flipnote and post it here on Flipnote Hatena.

Review of last week's topic: "Strange and funny faces"

We had a lot of excellent submissions for last week's topic, that made us giggle and chuckle, and some of the submissions even made our stomachs ache from too much laughter. Here are some of our favorites from around the world.

"Strange and funny faces" from the Europe and Oceania region:

★ We really enjoyed this excellent Flipnote by NEVERTIME (id:Nevertime) titled "strange face" with nice animation reminiscent of the Monty Python animations by Terry Gilliam. Good job!

★ Enter the bizarre world of "My Strange face" by Hinto (id:Hinto) with nice animation and sound effects. We were quite impressed by what the creator called "My quick effort"!

"Strange and funny faces" from the Americas

★ Here's an excellent Flipnote by one of our staff's favorites Retro&Geo (id:retro_j) with an unexpected ending. Excellent work by retro_j's brother.

★ Here's "iStrange", featuring a well-illustrated, creepy little character by j2 (id:jDeuce), with weird sounds and a protruding eyeball that we liked.

"Strange and funny faces" from Japan

★ "If you laugh you lose" is what it says in Japanese in this bizarre and wonderful Flipnote by Rikki (id:rikki3). It doesn't require any knowledge of Japanese to laugh while watching this -- can you make it to the end without laughing?

★ We want to add words to this Flipnote by Shogun, with a strange photographed face on an all white background. Be sure to watch it in loop mode for the full effect.
