Hello from all of us on the Flipnote Hatena team. This is Aaron at Hatena's offices in Kyoto, Japan with another edition of our weekly news blog.
We made some updates to Flipnote Hatena this past week. If you haven't already read the official announcements please visit the links below:
Starting from this week we're also changing the channel that is used for the weekly topic from channel 8 to channel 7.
Unfortunately, too many creators have been posting Flipnotes that are not about the weekly topic to channel 8, so this move is being made to reduce the number of people posting to the wrong place.
Channel 8 will now be set as the "Practice" channel, so please be sure you're posting to the correct place if you are posting about the weekly topic.
Lastly, if you're a Flipnote Citizen you can help us to keep the weekly topic channel "on topic" by unlinking Flipnotes that are not related to the weekly topic. We'd appreciate your help with this if you've got some free time to help out.
This week's new themes
The Flipnote team has created four new Creator's Room themes that are available in the Color Star Exchange this week. Below are some screenshots and details about the new themes.
- Two spiders with an eerie purple glow wait to catch anyone who ventures into your Creator's Room! (10 color stars)
- A variation of the previously released theme inspired by Lewis Caroll's "Alice" stories, with silhouetted characters on a light pink background. (20 color stars)
- Decorate your Creator's Room with this theme inspired by indie rock featuring a pink skull, a broken heart, and a punkish rabbit and a bear. (20 color stars)
- Add the excitement of a soccer match to your Creator's Room with this theme featuring 2 silhouetted soccer players on a navy blue background. (20 color stars)

★ A character wins a bowling competition in this funny Flipnote by i<3puppies (id:kingblack).
★ We liked the varied angles and illustration in this Flipnote about a running competition by Link77 (id:Link77).
★ M®Rk (id:Brawler) created this nice animation with the Nintendo DSi Camera featuring a cast of 4 original characters taking part in a car race.
★ Razorback (id:rowdiebren3) created this exciting Flipnote about an American football game, complete with original narration, a scoreboard and original sports personalities.
★ Two characters compete in a table tennis competition that ends with the ball going to the stratosphere in this Flipnote by Emerald (id:BirdFish72).

★ This Flipnote by Soukai MAX (id:yunnde0818) has great motion and sound effects and features a group of soccer players with incredible moves.
★ A character competes against a fruit tree in this funny Flipnote by Morihiko (id:eeememo2).
★ A Japanese rhinoceros beetle and a stag beetle compete for victory in this Flipnote by Solario.
★ This Flipnote by Nikuo (id:NIKUO290) has beautiful illustration and realistic sounds, and features two fighters engaged in combat.
★ Runa☆(Netgireww (id:runa-1999) created this cute Flipnote about some funny characters competing in a relay race.
★ You can knock down this boxer, but he'll keep coming back for more in this funny Flipnote by Futaki Family.

★ Dylan™ (id:Dylan1995) created this fantastic Flipnote about a soccer match that's nicely illustrated and has well-done synchronized sounds.
★ Two characters compete against in each other at a game of table tennis in this Flipnote by Aiden (id:La-Lune-Bleue).
★ We liked this short and simple Flipnote by Joey man (id:Joeyman) that features 2 characters playing volleyball.
★ Here's another soccer themed Flipnote by damien06™ (id:damienb) with various players competing against each other and a roaring crowd.
★ Max (id:max6466) made this nice Flipnote about the game of "Pong", which was one of the earliest videogames (released in 1972).
★ This is an amazing Flipnote by ★mpa★ (id:markos-1996) featuring 2 soccer teams competing against each other, complete with various angles, movements and a catchy soundtrack.
This week's topic: "Electronics" (6/25/2010 - 7/2/2010)
This week we'd like you to create Flipnotes about electronics. Create Flipnotes about your favorite electronic gadgets, gizmos and thingamajigs. Animate electronic things that beep, blink, move around, or do whatever crazy thing that you can imagine. You can introduce electronics from the past, present or the future. We're looking forward to seeing your Flipnotes, and will feature some of the best ones next week here in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News. Post the Flipnotes you create to channel 7 from Flipnote Hatena on your Nintendo DSi.
Also, please do not use copyrighted music in your Flipnotes if you want them to be featured here. Check out some of the sites below for Creative Commons licensable and other royalty free music:
