Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check back here every Wednesday to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Nakano (id:nakano87) from Japan.

Hi! Please introduce yourself!

Hi, my name is Nakano and I come from Tokyo, Japan. Some people think that I'm balding, but the truth is that I shave my head with a razor.

How you get ideas for your Flipnotes, and how long does it usually take you to create them?

I usually start making Flipnotes without any clear ideas or purpose in mind, and they form into something eventually. I don't like to plan things before I start, so for this reason it usually takes me less than an hour to finish a Flipnote.

What hobbies or interests do you have (besides making Flipnotes)?

I love creatures from ancient times, especially those from the Cambrian period (542 – 488.3 million years ago). I get very excited when I think about Cambrian creatures such as the Marrella, Yohoia, or the Anomalocaris.

I also like to dance, and am a member of a dance team called "Zen-In-Megane" (literally "All In Glasses" in English). You can check out one of our performances on YouTube if you are interested in what we do. We created this dance team 10 years ago, which is really a short time when compared to the length of the Cambrian period!

Who are some of your favorite creators on Flipnote Hatena and why?

I really like the artistic Flipnotes made by the following creators:

Do you have any advice or tips for other Flipnote creators about how they can improve their skills?

Even though you might think that you are not good at animation or drawing, I believe you can make interesting things. It is good to try to make something better than other people, but it is really tough to accomplish that. I think that it is best to try to make something different from everyone else.

What kind of Flipnotes would you like to create in the future? Are there any new things you would like to try?

I would like to make short and fun Flipnotes that anyone can enjoy without any background knowledge. I always try to make something completely different than the Flipnotes I have posted before, but despite this effort, I usually end of making Flipnotes that are not too different from my other ones.

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

Hey kids...don't become an adult like me!
