Flipnote Hatena Weekly News: Feb. 4, 2011

Greetings from all of us at Hatena, and thanks for checking out the Flipnote Hatena news blog.

This coming Friday will be a national holiday (National Foundation Day) in Japan, so we will be releasing the news one day earlier than usual. Please post your weekly topic Flipnotes by Wednesday, Feburary 9, 2011.

The topic for this week is "Noodles", so I prepared a few photos of noodles to give you some ideas.

Most of the Hatena programmers work until late at night, and they get their energy from various snacks such as sodas, chocolate, cookies, chips and instant noodles. Here are some instant noodles that I made into a tower...

Some other noodles that are popular in Japan are soba noodles, which are made from buckwheat. Long soba noodles ("toshikoshi soba") are often eaten during the new year holiday to give you a long life.

Ramen noodles that are originally from China are also popular in Japan. You can eat ramen in a variety of styles including soy sauce, pork stock, miso, or salt based soups.

I also like Phat Thai Noodles from Thailand, and I sometimes eat them for lunch at a Thai restaurant near the Hatena offices.

Well, that's enough food related stuff for now. What kind of noodles do you like? Post some photos or tell us in the news feedback section and let us know.

Now, stop noodling around reading the news, and get to work on your Flipnotes!

This is a picture of the Hatena frog that I made in the snow. I have a snow block maker that is supposed to make blocks for forts, but I used it to make a sprite of the Hatena frog in the snow!

Traveled around a bit this week, went to a pet store and found this small frog just relaxing right by a few lizards and reptiles. Actually zoomed in for the shot because it is as small as my fingers.
