Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Jojo (id:flubber106) from the Americas region.

Please tell us about yourself.

Hi, everyone. I'm Jojo. As you can tell from my Flipnotes, I love to draw. I've been drawing since I was very small. It's something I do whenever I can, wherever I can, and I know my drawing skill's improving the more I draw. What they say is true - practice makes perfect!

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

I have various different hobbies. As I said before, drawing is a favorite for me. Obviously, making Flipnotes is another one of my favorites! I also enjoy playing video games, spending time outside, or reading comic books and graphic novels. Reading is another thing I spend a lot of time with.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★"Bubble Monster!"

This is one of my favorites. I think the animation is very smooth and well thought out. The drawing may not be at its best, but I certainly enjoy watching it over and over!

★"Ooh, Cookies!"

This is a short Flipnote that only took me about ten minutes. I like it mainly for the voice acting. It fits perfectly, and the scream I made at the end is pretty funny, isn't it?! :D

★"Brain"

I made this Flipnote quite a long time ago. This was actually inspired by a bizarre dream I had one night. I enjoy this one because I like how the brain creature gets up and scampers away. It's strange and unique, all in one Flipnote!

★"Angry Bald Guy Mask"

This is yet another short Flipote that I like. "Angry Bald Guy" is a little something that sort of ends up as the theme in some of my Flipnotes. I enjoy it because I like the way the little character screams and flails his arms in the air as he falls.

★"Robot"

I like this Flipnote because it just reminds me of how much I love to draw robots. It's a habit I have. The sound effects were also made by me.

★"Weekly Topic: Hands"

This Flipnote was originally posted for the weekly topic. I like it because it was a new drawing style that I tested, and it worked out pretty well. The story's also funny and amusing.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I think I do pretty well with lip-syncing for someone at my level. My characters almost always talk in my Flipnotes, so this is something that I practice with all the time. Moving mouths is also really fun to animate, because there are so many different ways to do it.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order to make your Flipnotes better?

I would like to let my characters move more. In a lot of my recent animations, the characters' mouths and arms move, but they generally stand in the same spot throughout. It would be cool to see one of my characters sprint across the screen or maybe do a back-flip or something. Anyway, I'm trying to improve, and I think I'm getting better!

Please introduce us your favorite artists.

Well, Thomas (id:tomf-96) is one of my favorite creators because every time he posts a new Flipnote, it blows my mind. He gets funnier and funnier, and I look up to his animations. They are so incredible!

Acids (id:Ace707) is also a great creator because his Flipnotes are epic and amazing. He's so good at animating incredible battle sequences, and his art is so unique.

And last but not least, J Inc. (id:J_Inc) is a great creator. His animations are amazing, and his series "Juggernaut" is fantastic! It's so fun to follow, and I can never wait for the next episode to be posted.

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

I would like to say just one thing- Just keep making Flipnotes. No one is bad at animating. Animation is something that can never be bad. It's different for everyone who animates. And with practice, your Flipnotes can go from being cool or good to being just plain awesome! Practice, and have lots of fun! :D
