Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Rakugaki (id:gimmick417) from Japan.

Please introduce yourself.

Hello everyone! My name is Rakugaki, which means "scribble" in Japanese. I chose that name because I like drawing and scribbling.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

My interest has always been drawing, ever since I was little. When I was a child I used a sketch book everyday. My mother got mad at me for using so much paper, because she had to buy me new sketchbooks often. One thing that I really appreciate about Flipnote Studio is that I no longer need to worry about running out of paper. Also, I can see others' work too.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★ I made this Flipnote at speed 7 in Flipnote Studio (the fastest speed with many frames required), and tried to make the motion very dynamic. I like drawing these kinds of fight scenes, especially with characters who punch and kick.

★ "Kicking is Difficult" - I worked very hard on the camera motion in this Flipnote. It's a short Flipnote, with a simple story.

★ "Get Out Of Here!" - This is another fight scene, between a huge monster and a human. I tried to make it simple by just using black & white.

Additional Flipnotes chosen by Hatena

★ "Slash" Speed 7 Practice - We enjoyed the variety of angles and detailed drawing in this Flipnote. The tiger-like dragon monster is also very cool.

★ It is interesting to see the contrast between the finished drawings and sketch-like drawings in this Flipnote. It is a good way to study motion.

★ We liked the fast-paced action of the two characters fighting in this Flipnote, and the variety of scenes.

★ "Pygmy Owl"- The style of this Flipnote is quite different from the other Flipnotes introduced here by this creator.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes? And what are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?

I think I'm good at animating human bodies. I would like to improve my drawing skills though. My drawings are still quite rough, so I practice every day.
