Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Dingpoodle (id:CitrusHappy), from the Americas region.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I created two original characters named Dingpoodle and CitrusHappy.

I chose the name "CitrusHappy", because orange is my favorite color. The color orange connects to the fruit orange, which connects to citrus fruits. I don't know exactly why I chose the name "Dingpoodle".

Before i had a Nintendo DSi of my own, my friend Austin (id:flip_frog) let me make Flipnotes with his.

I'm a little lazy and I get distracted easily, but I can get everything done when I really want to.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

My main hobby is drawing, and I usually draw people, animals, or robots. I also like to play video games.

A Selection of Flipnotes by Dingpoodle

★ "Water Balloon" - This is a funny Flipnote featuring both the CtirusHappy and Dingpoodle characters.

★ "Walking" - The character in this animation made us think of a mime artist.

★ "Cube" - This is a short and funny Flipnote about a cube-shaped character.

★ "Bunnee Thing" - Don't be fooled by the dangerously cute character in this Flipnote.

★ "It Walks!" - The sounds in this Flipnote were made by crumpling paper.

★ "Koi" - This Flipnote shows a beautiful loop with a Koi carp and the Japanese flag. CitrusHappy made this after the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I'm okay at animating and I'm good at drawing. I make my own sound effects with random items that I find in my house such as metal discs, a squeaky chair, paper, and few other things.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order make your Flipnotes better?

I'm trying to learn how to make special effects in my animations such as moving liquids, fire, and dust.

Two of CitrusHappy's favorite artists

InkWolf (id:InkWolf) is one of my favorite creators on Flipnote Hatena, and I admire his animation skills.

I also like the excellent art and animation by Da-kun (id:Rakugaki321).

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

If you aren't happy with what you make, just keep trying. It takes a long time to get better at something.
