Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.
We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.
Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!
Today's Hatena Featured Artist is BTD (id:PhantomK) from the Americas region.
Please tell us about yourself.
I really enjoy drawing and animating stuff, and I live in Ontario, Canada. I feel honored that I have been chosen to be a featured artist.
What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?
I love playing Hockey and video games, and drawing. I also spend a lot of me free time reading stuff on the Internet, and spending time with friends.
Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.
★ "The Snack Guy" - This is probably the first Flipnote I think I did a really good job on.
★ "Mountain Hero" - I remember this one took a long time to make, I like the action I managed to pull off here.
★ "Sea Serpent Attack" - This one was a sequel to mountain hero, where the hero has to fight a giant sea serpent. It is pretty cool.
★ "GoldFish Man Intro" - GoldFish Man is a superhero that I invented. In this Flipnote he attempts to stop a bank robbery.
★ "Three eyed jumpers" - In this animation I took the basic concept of "Mountain Hero", but I tripled the number of monsters he has to fight. That means it is three times as awesome.
★ "Gan Vs Food Thief Part One" - This flipnote was supposed to be longer, but I actually reached the maximum file size for a Flipnote, so I will have to finish the second part sometime soon. I think this one really shows off how far my style has progressed since my earlier Flipnotes.
What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?
I think the area where I show the most skill is in creating unique characters and giving my animations a dynamic, cinematic quality. I would say I am getting pretty good at story telling, too.
How do you wish to improve your Flipnote making skills?
There are a lot of things I could do in order to improve my Flipnotes. I believe I need to study the way the human body moves so that I can animate characters more convincingly. I could also stand to make my animation more fluid, among other things. I am constantly learning new things and growing as an artist.
Please introduce some of your favorite Flipnote Hatena artists!
★ InkWolf (id:InkWolf) produces some top quality animation.
★ Oliver (id:olivercd) may only have seven flipnotes, but every single one of them is outstanding.
