Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Kenta (id:daino24) from Japan.

Please tell us about yourself.

Hello, my name is Kenta. On thing I really like are fossils. I like fossils so much that when I see a flying bird I imagine what its skeleton looks like.

When I was in junior high school I used to doodle a lot in notebooks. That is where I first created my two characters Akagi Miko and Shimizu Tatsuhiko.

I have been using Flipnote Studio for about a year and I am finally getting the hang of it.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

During the holidays I travel by train around Japan to visit museums. I like to spend my free time reading books about fossils, manga comics and movies.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★ Among my Flipnotes this is the one that has the most movement. I was thinking about a video I once saw when I made it, and how I could give it movement. I could make it in a simple way with very few frames.

★ This was my entry for the 'Weekly Topic: Dragons'. I am satisfied with the way the dragon moves and how the Japanese kanji character for dragon turned out.

★ I made this Flipnote for the 'Weekly Topic: Wind'. This loop only consists of six frames, but I was still able to create movement well.

★ 'Climbing Up to Heaven' - In this Flipnote Kenta shows how his character Miko feels when she eats her favorite kind of food.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I enjoy making simple loop Flipnotes. When I have an idea I just start making it. I like to use my characters and have some kind of interaction between them.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?

I am not so good at making things move. I make very short animations but I do not have the patience to make them longer. I want to practice and slowly become better at animating.

Please introduce us your favorite artists!

I especially like creators who have their own styles of illustration and making animation. What I like the most are creators who have their own original characters that they bring to life.

There are many creators I like and to name them all up would be a bit too difficult. Here is a short list of some of my favorite creators:

Isoflavone (id:eikaisan)

O-tam (id:o-tamsan)

Reptile (id:seismo)

Itokichikun (id:wakasuga)

Minami (id:ishi1107)

Chinshunoyoshida (id:yoshidadada)

Yotti (id:yotiyottin)

Sumiru (id:furitballad12)

TakanoriTAS (id:tumego)

All the users I have named here create special and amazing Flipnotes, and I can always learn something from them.

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

I am not really a serious person, and like to work at my own pace. I like Flipnote Hatena because I can enjoy it at my own pace. I am really happy when I can get along well with other users and enjoy making Flipnotes together with other people.
