Hello, this is Aaron at Hatena headquarters in Kyoto with another edition of the Flipnote weekly news.

We have received a lot of feedback about the Flipnote Hatena 2.5 update that was released last Friday.

Here are some answers to common questions about the update:

Why does my Most Popular list look different than before?

  • If you choose to enable the 'Optimize Popular Flipnotes' option your Most Popular list will show Flipnotes that other people in your age group like. If you don't want to have an age-adjusted Most Popular list, go to your Creator's Room and set 'Optimize Popular Flipnotes' to 'No'. Choosing 'No' will make your Most Popular list display in the same way as before the Flipnote Hatena 2. 5 update.

I can't find channels that I used before. Where did they go?

  • If you are having trouble to locate channels please use the 'Add to favorites' option for channels you like. When you add a channel to your favorites you can then find it in your Creator's Room in your Favorite channels list. You can also use the search tool on the Flipnote Hatena website to locate channels. Mark down the command code of the channel you wish to use and enter it into Command Search on Flipnote Hatena for Nintendo DSi.

I tapped on 'I do not like this Flipnote' by mistake. How can I undo this?

  • If you tap on 'I do not like this Flipnote' by mistake, you can add a star to the Flipnote to undo this. Adding a star to a Flipnote you disliked will return your vote back to a setting that will not negatively affect the ranking of the Flipnote.

We will continue to make improvements to Flipnote Hatena to make the service more enjoyable for everyone, and would like to thank everyone who contacted with us with your opinions about the recent update.

Next week most of the Hatena staff (including myself) will be visiting Minamisanriku, Miyagi prefecture in northeastern Japan. Minamisanriku was one of the areas seriously affected by the earthquake and tsunami that took place on March 11, 2011. For this reason we will not be posting the Flipnote Hatena Weekly news until March 9, 2012. Thank you for your understanding.

In addition to the Flipnotes that we have selected here, you can also see some more of our favorites in the 'Best of Hatena' channel at the URL below:
