Hello, this is Aaron at Hatena headquarters in Kyoto with another edition of the Flipnote weekly news.
Last week many of the Hatena staff visited a town called Minamisanriku in northeastern Japan which is about 650 km (400 miles) from our office in Kyoto. Minamisanriku was heavily damaged during the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011. It was the first time for many of us to visit the areas affected by the disaster and see the destruction and rebuilding first hand.
Almost one year has passed since this tragedy occurred and a great deal of of progress has been made. However, there is still much work left to be done.
We sincerely appreciate all of the support Flipnote Hatena users have shown to the people of Japan over the past year. You can see the 'Smile for Japan' Flipnotes that were posted by users worldwide by tapping on the 'Special Room' button from the top menu of Flipnote Hatena.
