Hello, this is Aaron at Hatena in Kyoto bringing you the latest in news at Flipnote Hatena.

The weather has gotten warmer in Japan and the cherry blossom trees ('Sakura' in Japanese) are now in full bloom in Kyoto. During the first few weeks of April beautiful pink flowery cherry blossoms can be seen all over Japan. It is a wonderful time to go outside and enjoy nature with friends or family.

This week that we have a topic to celebrate nature and the coming of spring that we hope will inspire you to create some new animations.

This week we would like you to create animations about trees. Try to create animations about trees being planted, growing or falling down. You might try to make Flipnotes about the types of trees you find in your part of the world, such as baobabs, cherry blossoms or Joshua Trees. Animate characters climbing trees, or animals that live in trees. You might even want to make animations of trees that walk or talk. See where your creativity takes you!
