Today's Hatena Featured Artist is josecandel (id:goomer) from the Europe and Oceania region.

Please tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone! My friends call me Candel. I live in a beautiful coastal city in Spain. Since my childhood I have liked drawing, and my mother always made sure I would not run out of paper. I think she liked my drawings, or maybe was afraid that I would draw on the walls if I ran out of paper.

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

I have many hobbies but little time to devote to them -- painting, drawing comics, reading, writing... I wish there were more than 24 hours in a day.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

★　"The Ducks" - I really enjoyed making this and I love how the ducks walk. The most difficult thing was drawing the water.

★ "The Magician" - I wanted to make a comedy Flipnote and I think this came out well.

★ "OUCH!" - This Flipnote was inspired by classic animated films.

★ "The Little T. rex" - Mr. John created a Flipnote that inspired me to animate this little dinosaur.

★ "Wake Up" - This is a horse animation, but for the gestures and movements I used my Yorkshire terrier as a model.

★ "The Jump" - I really liked the effects when the character falls of a cliff.

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?

I think my best skill is being able to create the illusion of movement. I like to mix different speeds in the same Flipnote, combining slow movements with faster ones. I also like to add little things to my animations so that everything seems more natural.

What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?

I still have much to learn and the best way to do this is to analyze my mistakes and try to avoid making the same mistakes again. I am very critical of myself and at the same time I am very persistent when I have an idea.

Please introduce some of your favorite Flipnote artists

My favorite artists are:

★ mrjohn (id:mrjohn) - In my opinion he is one of the best artists on Hatena. I like his unique style and preciseness. His blend of photography and animation in such perfect harmony is remarkable.

★ geezer (id:geezerdk) - He is one of the best comedians and entertainers I've met on Hatena. His wit and imagination know no bounds, and every Flipnote he makes is a gift full of laughter and humor for all of us.

★ judgedredd (id:judgedredd) - I really like her clear and detailed drawings. She is very talented and you can see it in every Flipnote she makes.

★ Simon (id:simon-a) - A great entertainer that has made some of the best Flipnotes here on Hatena.
