Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.
We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.
Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!
Today's Hatena Featured Artist is OMG>9000 (id:OMGover9000) from the Europe and Oceania Region.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
Hello Hatena! I am a 17 year old student from England, and hope to soon go to university to study biochemistry. I started making Flipnotes after seeing other creators animations and wishing I could animate as well as they do.
What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?
In my spare time, there's nothing I love more than making crafts. I love drawing, painting, origami and, recently discovered plushie making. The feeling I get when I've just finished a big project is wonderful. Although, recently I've had to study for my exams so I haven't had much free time.
Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.
★ "Behind the Scenes" - This Flipnote took me a whole day to finish and is my personal favourite. The most difficult part was animating the moving eyes.
★ "Little Tree" - This Flipnote took me several hours to make and was the first Flipnote I posted for the weekly topic.
★ "Weekly Topic: Circus" - This is my first Flipnote that was featured in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News. I remember being very excited when I saw my animation in the list!
★ "Weekly Topic: Umbrella" - I wanted to draw something cute and sweet and try to animate an animal. It was very fun!
★ "Weekly Topic: Fast" - I posted this Flipnote for the weekly topic. It was difficult to animate smoothly and make the sounds match.
★ "Weekly Topic: Cheese" - This animation started as a doodle of a cow, and I really enjoyed making it! I had to look up how cheese is made to make it. This also got featured in the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News!
What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes?
I have a lot more to learn in Flipnote making, but I think I'm best at thinking of ideas for animations, and drawing animals.
What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve, try, or learn to do in order make your Flipnotes better?
I want to learn how to use sounds better, and need to spend more time adding details to each frame. I also hope to learn how to animate action scenes.
Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Flipnote Hatena and tell us why you like them or their Flipnotes.
★ I absolutely adore every single one of the Flipnotes posted by Ashie (id:Ashie). The animation is so smooth and the sounds are amazing!
★ josecandel (id:goomer) is such an amazing artist; this creator inspired me to start making my own animations, and I couldn't love his Flipnotes more.
★ I think geezer (id:geezerdk) is hilarious! He is a master of comedy - his Flipnotes are definitely worth checking out.
Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?
Please don't abuse Flipnote Hatena! Don't abuse the spin off function, and please don't post Flipnotes in the wrong channels. Begging for stars isn't going to get you anywhere. Also, if I had to give a piece of advice to creators out there, I'd say this - remember that it takes time to make a Flipnote to be proud of!
Thanks for checking out the Hatena Featured Artist, and please let us know any feedback that you have in the box below. Also, please be sure to check out Flipnotes by the creator we interviewed here, and show them your support with your stars and comments!
