Hello, this is Aaron at Hatena in Kyoto, Japan bringing you the latest news about Flipnote Hatena.

Flipnote Hatena was launched in the Americas region on August 12, 2009, and in the Europe and Oceania region on August 14, 2009. It has been an amazing 3 years so far, and we are looking forward to many more years of Flipnotes together with you all. For the next month we will be having a special event to celebrate this milestone in Flipnote history -- for more information please keep reading.

Next week is a holiday in Japan, so we will not be publishing the next edition of the Flipnote Hatena Weekly News until August 24, 2012. You will have an extra week to work on your weekly topic Flipnotes, and we hope that you enjoy the new topic that we have prepared this week.

Flipnote Hatena 3rd Anniversary Event

To celebrate the third anniversary of the launch of Flipnote Hatena in the Americas and Europe and Oceania regions, we are having a special event from August 10, 2012 (Friday) until September 10, 2012 (Monday).

To take part, create an original Flipnote to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Flipnote Hatena and post it to the official 3rd anniversary channel. Create stories about the good times and experiences that you have had on Flipnote Hatena, or show off some of the animation skills that you have learned.

We will feature some of the best submissions in a special section of Flipnote Hatena in September.

  • Submission rules:
    • 1) You can post only 1 Flipnote per Hatena account.
    • 2) Flipnotes that are unrelated to the "Flipnote Hatena 3rd Anniversary" topic will not be accepted.
    • 3) Flipnotes with unauthorized use of copyrighted music, images or characters will not be accepted.
    • 4) Spin-offs that are not significantly modified from the original Flipnote will not be accepted.
    • 5) Flipnotes can only be posted by users from the Americas and Europe and Oceania regions.

Make your own imaginary boat and set out on a journey in your animations. See where your creativity takes you!
