Flipnote Hatena Weekly News: March 26, 2010

Hello from all of us at the Hatena offices in Kyoto. This is Aaron with another issue of our weekly news blog -- thanks for taking the time to check it out.

This past Wednesday, Nintendo announced a new game console, tentatively named the Nintendo 3DS. We don't have any news about the possible development of Flipnote Studio 3D, but think it might be an interesting idea.

One of the engineers from the Flipnote team, Motemen (id:motemen), writing some new code.

In other news, the Nintendo DSi XL will be released in North America this Sunday, March 28, 2010, and we know that some of our readers are considering upgrading.

You can link more than one Nintendo DSi to your Hatena account, however, each Nintendo DSi will have a separate Creator's Room on the Flipnote Hatena website.

Many people have contacted us asking if there is a way that we can merge multiple Creator's Room into one, but it's unfortunately not possible.

When you link multiple Nintendo DSi's to your Hatena account you can choose which one is your primary one on the settings page of your Creator's Room on the Flipnote Hatena website. The Flipnotes posted from your primary Nintendo DSi will appear when people type your URL in their web browser (example: http://flipnote.hatena.com/your_user_name/).

You can also download your previously posted Flipnotes to your new Nintendo DSi and repost them, however they will appear as spin-offs of the original Flipnotes.

To celebrate the holiday of Easter we are having a contest on Flipnote Hatena until April 2, 2010. If you post a Flipnote about the topic of "Easter" to channel #7, you might be the lucky winner of 10 or 50 Color Stars that you can use with your Hatena account.

For more details and for the information about how to enter the Easter contest, please check out the URL below:

Easter is not really celebrated here in Japan, but cherry blossom trees (Sakura) start blooming this time of year all across the country. Here in Kyoto, the cherry blossoms just started blooming this past week, and many of the Hatena employees will be enjoying a Hanami (cherry blossom viewing party) this weekend.
