Welcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we'll even feature you someday!

Today's Hatena Featured Artist is Yukinka (id:yukinka) from Japan.

★ "Falling Down into the Pacific"

Please introduce yourself.

Hi everybody, my name is Yukinka. I started creating Flipnotes after my sister gave me a Nintendo DSi as a present when I entered University. Ever since then, I've been a big fan of Flipnote Hatena!

How do you get ideas for your Flipnotes, and how long does it usually take you to create them?

Most of the time, I draw some comics or sketches before I make my Flipnotes. I usually get hints for my stories from watching television and movies, or from looking at plastic models or other toys.

★"An Unfortunate Event"

What hobbies or interests do you have (besides making Flipnotes)?

I like watching movies and videos about how movies are made. I also enjoy drawing original pictures and comics. I like old fantasy games too.

Who are some of your favorite creators on Flipnote Hatena and why?

Some of my favorite creators on Flipnote Hatena are:

  • ▲Samel▼(id:nobuhisa0604) makes unique robot characters.
  • Massan (id:matsuda6295) draws really good fighter planes and I like his "Ace in the Sky" stories.
  • Takashigon(id:takashigon21)'s "Gokiburi Battle" is a very unique series about cockroaches in the battle field.
  • Marimura (id:marimura)'s original characters are really cool.
  • Gomakyu (id:goma-9) has got some cute drawings too.

There are many others, but I can't list them all here!

★"Merry Christmas"

Do you have any advice or tips for other Flipnote creators about how they can improve their skills?

When I create a Flipnote, I try to think of myself as a film director. I think about hints and advice that I have learned about film-making from famous directors from watching videos about how they made their films. When I think about being the "film director" of my own Flipnotes, it puts me in an creative mood!

What kind of Flipnotes would you like to create in the future? Are there any new things you would like to try?

I'd like to try making some military adventure stories, and drawing animal characters too.

★"The Snowstorm's Gift"

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

Thank you for all your support, stars, and comments. It really makes me happy to hear from others everytime I'm on Flipnote Hatena. I plan to continue creating Flipnotes, and hope that you will continue to watch and enjoy them!

★"The Misfortune of the Fish"
